Meta-DOT
Meta-DOT is a psychedelic drug and a member of the phenethylamine class. It is known for its hallucinogenic effects, which are similar to those of other psychedelic drugs such as LSD and psilocybin.
History[edit | edit source]
Meta-DOT was first synthesized in the late 20th century by Alexander Shulgin, a renowned chemist and psychopharmacologist. Shulgin's work in the field of psychedelic research led to the discovery and synthesis of many new psychedelic compounds, including Meta-DOT.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Like other psychedelic drugs, Meta-DOT acts primarily as a serotonin receptor agonist. It binds to and activates the serotonin 2A receptor, which is thought to be primarily responsible for the drug's psychedelic effects.
Effects[edit | edit source]
The effects of Meta-DOT are similar to those of other psychedelic drugs. Users often report intense visual hallucinations, altered perception of time, and changes in thought patterns. The effects typically last for several hours, and can be both positive and negative.
Legal Status[edit | edit source]
The legal status of Meta-DOT varies by country. In many places, it is classified as a controlled substance, making its possession, sale, and use illegal. However, in some countries, it is legal for use in scientific research.
