Michèle Rubirola
Michèle Rubirola (born July 28, 1956) is a French politician and physician who served as the Mayor of Marseille from July 2020 to December 2020. She is a member of the Europe Ecology – The Greens (EELV) party and has been involved in various environmental and social causes throughout her career.

Michèle Rubirola was born in Marseille, France. She pursued her medical studies at the Aix-Marseille University, where she specialized in general medicine. Rubirola also holds a degree in public health.

In the 2020 municipal elections, Rubirola led a left-wing coalition called the "Printemps Marseillais" (Marseille Spring), which won the majority of seats in the Marseille City Council. She was elected Mayor of Marseille on July 4, 2020, becoming the first woman to hold the position. Her tenure as mayor was marked by efforts to address the city's housing crisis, improve public transportation, and promote environmental sustainability.
Resignation[edit | edit source]
Rubirola resigned from her position as mayor on December 15, 2020, citing health reasons. She was succeeded by her deputy, Benoît Payan.
