Michael J. Dowling
Michael J. Dowling is an Irish-American healthcare executive and the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Northwell Health, the largest healthcare provider and private employer in the state of New York. He is recognized for his contributions to the healthcare industry and his leadership in transforming healthcare delivery.

Michael J. Dowling was born in Limerick, Ireland. He grew up in a rural area and faced significant economic challenges during his childhood. Dowling earned his undergraduate degree from University College Cork in Ireland. He later moved to the United States and obtained a master's degree in Social Policy and Social Work from Fordham University in New York City.

He served as the Director of Health, Education, and Human Services for the state of New York and was a professor of social policy and assistant dean at the Fordham University Graduate School of Social Services.

Michael J. Dowling joined Northwell Health (formerly known as North Shore-LIJ Health System) in 1995 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In 2002, he was appointed President and CEO. Under his leadership, Northwell Health has grown significantly, expanding its services and facilities across the state of New York. The health system includes 23 hospitals, nearly 800 outpatient facilities, and numerous specialized programs and services.
Dowling has been instrumental in promoting innovation in healthcare, focusing on patient-centered care, and integrating advanced technologies into healthcare delivery. He has also been a vocal advocate for healthcare reform and addressing social determinants of health.
