Michael O'Laughlen


Michael O'Laughlen was an Irish-American who was involved in the American Civil War and later became associated with the Confederate Secret Service. He was born in Ireland in the early 19th century and immigrated to the United States with his family at a young age.

During the American Civil War, O'Laughlen joined the Confederate Army and served in various capacities. He was known for his dedication to the Confederate cause and his bravery on the battlefield. After the war, O'Laughlen became involved in clandestine activities on behalf of the Confederacy.

O'Laughlen's most infamous association was with the plot to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln in 1865. Along with John Wilkes Booth and others, O'Laughlen was involved in the conspiracy to kill the President. The assassination took place on April 14, 1865, at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Following the assassination, O'Laughlen was captured and tried for his role in the plot. He was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. O'Laughlen died in custody in 1867, having never fully revealed the extent of his involvement in the conspiracy.
