Michel Roux Jr.

Michel Roux Jr. (born 23 May 1960) is a French-British chef and television presenter. He is best known for his work on the BBC television show MasterChef and for his role as chef patron of the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Le Gavroche in London.

Early life[edit | edit source]

Michel Roux Jr. was born in Pembury, Kent, England. He is the son of the famous chef Albert Roux and the nephew of Michel Roux, both of whom are considered pioneers of modern restaurant cuisine in the UK. He was educated at Le Rosey in Switzerland.

Career[edit | edit source]

Roux Jr. trained under some of the world's most distinguished chefs at leading restaurants in both Paris and London. At 24, he took over running Le Gavroche from his father, a position he has held ever since. In 1993, the restaurant was awarded its second Michelin star.

Roux Jr. has appeared on a number of television shows, including Hell's Kitchen, MasterChef, and Saturday Kitchen. He also presented a series called Food & Drink on the BBC.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Roux Jr. is married to Giselle Roux and they have a daughter, Emily Roux, who is also a chef. He is a keen runner and has completed the London Marathon 17 times for charity.
