Michigan Center, MI
- Michigan Center, MI is a census-designated place (CDP) in Leoni Township, Jackson County, Michigan, United States. The community is located near the center of the Lower Peninsula, hence its name. Michigan Center was platted as "Michigan Centre" in 1837 by Abel Fitch of New York, who had bought 160 acres of land in the area. The name was presumably derived from the proximity to the Michigan Meridian which the surveyors used as a reference.
Geography[edit | edit source]
- Michigan Center is located at 42°13′32″N 84°19′17″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.8 square miles (12 km2), of which 4.3 square miles (11 km2) is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2) (10.53%) is water.
