Micron Technology, Inc. is an American producer of computer memory and computer data storage including dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), flash memory, and solid-state drives (SSDs). It is headquartered in Boise, Idaho. Micron is one of the largest memory manufacturers in the world and is a key player in the semiconductor industry.

Micron was founded in 1978 by Ward Parkinson, Joe Parkinson, Dennis Wilson, and Doug Pitman. The company initially focused on semiconductor design and later expanded into manufacturing. In the 1980s, Micron became a significant player in the DRAM market, competing with established companies like Samsung and SK Hynix.

In 1996, Micron acquired Texas Instruments' memory operations, which significantly increased its production capacity. In 2012, Micron acquired Elpida Memory, a Japanese DRAM manufacturer, further solidifying its position in the global market.
