Mike's New Car is a 2002 computer-animated short film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and directed by Pete Docter and Roger Gould. The short features characters from the 2001 film Monsters, Inc., specifically Mike Wazowski and Sulley.

Plot[edit | edit source]

The story follows Mike Wazowski, who is excited about his new six-wheel drive car. He invites his best friend, Sulley, to take a ride with him. However, things quickly go awry as Mike struggles to operate the car's complex controls. The situation escalates into a series of comedic mishaps, ultimately leading to the car being damaged. Despite the chaos, the short ends on a humorous note with Mike and Sulley walking away from the wrecked car.

  • Mike Wazowski - A one-eyed green monster who is enthusiastic about his new car.
  • Sulley - Mike's best friend, a large blue monster with purple spots.

Production[edit | edit source]

Mike's New Car was created as a bonus feature for the DVD release of Monsters, Inc.. It was the first short film from Pixar to use characters from one of their feature films. The short was directed by Pete Docter and Roger Gould, with Randy Newman composing the music.

Awards[edit | edit source]

The short was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2002.
