Mirage (chocolate bar)
Mirage is a chocolate bar made by Nestlé, and primarily sold in Canada. The bar was introduced in the 1980s and is distinctive for its bubbly texture that collapses as the bar melts.
History[edit | edit source]
The Mirage chocolate bar was first introduced to the Canadian market in the 1980s. It was produced by the Rowntree Company until 1988, when the company was acquired by Nestlé. The bar has remained a popular choice among Canadian consumers, despite not being widely available in other markets.
Description[edit | edit source]
The Mirage chocolate bar is made from milk chocolate and is aerated, giving it a unique, bubbly texture. This texture is achieved by incorporating gas bubbles into the chocolate during the manufacturing process. The bar is then cooled and allowed to harden, preserving the bubbles. When the bar is eaten, the bubbles collapse, giving the chocolate a distinctive melting sensation.
Packaging[edit | edit source]
The Mirage bar is typically sold in a bright blue wrapper, with the word "Mirage" prominently displayed in yellow. The wrapper also features an image of the bar, showcasing its bubbly texture. The bar is available in a standard size, as well as a 'king size' version.
