This organization was among the first in India to offer holistic education and medical services to children with cerebral palsy and other neurological disabilities. Under her leadership, the organization has grown to include multiple centers across the country, providing services such as early intervention, education, vocational training, and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Alur's advocacy has not been limited to direct service. She has been a vocal advocate for policy change, working tirelessly to influence government policies towards more inclusive education and social systems. Her efforts were instrumental in the passage of the National Trust Act of India in 1999, a landmark legislation that provides support for individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, and multiple disabilities.
