Monica Törnell
Monica Törnell (born June 3, 1954) is a Swedish singer and songwriter. She is known for her diverse musical style, which includes rock, pop, and folk music. Törnell has had a significant impact on the Swedish music scene since the 1970s.

Monica Kristina Ingeborg Törnell was born in Söderhamn, Sweden. She showed an early interest in music and began performing at a young age. Törnell's talent was recognized when she was discovered by the famous Swedish singer Cornelis Vreeswijk.

1970s[edit | edit source]
Monica Törnell's career took off in the 1970s when she released her debut album, Ingica, in 1972. The album was well-received and showcased her unique voice and musical versatility. Throughout the 1970s, Törnell released several albums, including Alrik (1973) and Jag är som jag är (1978).

In the 1980s, Törnell continued to build her career with notable albums such as Ängel (1982) and Mica (1984). She also represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1986 with the song "E' de' det här du kallar kärlek?" alongside Lasse Holm. The song finished in fifth place.

During the 1990s, Törnell's output slowed, but she remained active in the music industry. She released the album Månfred in 1992. In the 2000s and 2010s, Törnell continued to perform and occasionally release new music, maintaining a loyal fan base.
