Monroeville is a borough located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is a suburb of Pittsburgh and is situated approximately 13 miles east of downtown Pittsburgh. Monroeville is known for being the home of the Monroeville Mall, the largest shopping mall in Western Pennsylvania.

Monroeville was founded in 1769 and was named after Joel Monroe, a prominent landowner in the area. The borough was officially incorporated in 1951. Over the years, Monroeville has experienced significant growth and development, becoming a thriving community with a diverse population.

As of the 2010 census, the population of Monroeville was 28,386. The borough has a population density of 1,726.6 people per square mile (666.6/km2). The racial makeup of Monroeville is predominantly White, with African American, Asian, and Hispanic populations also present.
Government[edit | edit source]
Monroeville operates under a council-manager form of government. The Monroeville Borough Council serves as the legislative body, while the borough manager is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the borough. The current mayor of Monroeville is Nick Gresock, and the borough manager is Tim Little.
Economy[edit | edit source]
Monroeville is home to a diverse range of businesses and industries. The Monroeville Mall, which opened in 1969, is a major economic driver for the borough. It features a wide variety of retail stores, restaurants, and entertainment options.
