Monterrey

Monterrey is the capital and largest city of the northeastern state of Nuevo León, in Mexico. The city is anchor to the Monterrey metropolitan area, the second most productive in Mexico, and the third largest with an estimated population of 4,689,601 people as of 2015.

Monterrey was founded in the 16th century. The city has been a major industrial and business center in Mexico. The city's economy is based on industry and commerce, being home to many Mexican companies.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Monterrey is located in Northeast Mexico, at the foothills of the Sierra Madre Oriental. The city covers approximately 324 square kilometers.

Monterrey is considered one of the most developed cities in the entire country. Globalization and trade liberalization have transformed the city into a sophisticated urban center with a growing economy.
