Muhammad Mamdani

Muhammad Mamdani is a renowned pharmacologist and epidemiologist known for his significant contributions to the field of healthcare. He is currently the Vice President of Data Science and Advanced Analytics at Unity Health Toronto.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Muhammad Mamdani was born and raised in Canada. He completed his undergraduate studies in Pharmacy at the University of Toronto. He then pursued a Master's degree in Health Services Research from the same university. Mamdani furthered his education by obtaining a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Michigan and a Master's degree in Epidemiology from Harvard University.

Career[edit | edit source]

Mamdani has held several prestigious positions throughout his career. He served as the Director of the Applied Health Research Centre (AHRC) at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael's Hospital. He also worked as a Senior Scientist in the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES).

In his current role at Unity Health Toronto, Mamdani leads a team of data scientists and analysts to leverage data and advanced analytics to improve patient care and outcomes.

Research and Contributions[edit | edit source]

Mamdani's research primarily focuses on pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology, and health services research. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of drug safety and effectiveness, healthcare system performance, and health policy.

His work has been widely recognized and cited in numerous peer-reviewed journals and he has received several awards for his contributions to healthcare research.

Mamdani has been the recipient of several awards, including the Premier's Research Excellence Award from the Government of Ontario and the New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
