MySupermarket[edit | edit source]

MySupermarket was a UK-based, online grocery shopping service that allowed users to compare prices from different retailers to find the best deals. The service was launched in 2006 and ceased operations in March 2020.

History[edit | edit source]

MySupermarket was founded in 2006 by a group of Israeli entrepreneurs. The initial idea was to create a platform that would allow consumers to compare prices of groceries and household items from different retailers in one place. The service quickly gained popularity due to its user-friendly interface and the convenience it offered to shoppers.

In 2013, MySupermarket expanded its operations to the United States, offering the same price comparison service for American consumers. However, the US version of the site was shut down in 2016 due to low user engagement.

In March 2020, MySupermarket announced that it would be closing down its operations. The company stated that it had decided to shift its focus to other business areas.

Features[edit | edit source]

MySupermarket offered several features that made it a popular choice among consumers. The main feature was the price comparison tool, which allowed users to compare prices of products from different retailers. This tool helped users to save money by choosing the retailer that offered the best price for a particular product.

Another feature was the 'Swap and Save' option, which suggested cheaper alternatives for the products that users had in their shopping basket. This feature was designed to help users save even more money on their grocery shopping.

MySupermarket also offered a 'My Favourites' feature, where users could save their favourite products for easy access in the future. This feature made the shopping process quicker and more convenient for users.

Retailers[edit | edit source]

MySupermarket included prices from a wide range of retailers, including major supermarkets such as Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, and Morrisons. The service also included prices from online retailers such as Amazon and Ocado, as well as health and beauty retailers like Boots and Superdrug.

Closure[edit | edit source]

In March 2020, MySupermarket announced that it would be closing down its operations. The company stated that it had decided to shift its focus to other business areas. The closure of MySupermarket was met with disappointment by its users, who had come to rely on the service for saving money on their grocery shopping.
