NHS Employers
NHS Employers is an organization in the United Kingdom that represents and supports the interests of National Health Service (NHS) employers. It is part of the NHS Confederation, and its role is to negotiate nationally on behalf of NHS employers in matters such as pay and conditions.
History[edit | edit source]
NHS Employers was established in 2004 as a result of the Agenda for Change reform program. The organization was created to provide a unified voice for NHS employers and to negotiate on their behalf with trade unions and other stakeholders.
Role and Functions[edit | edit source]
NHS Employers' primary role is to represent and support NHS employers in workforce matters. This includes negotiating nationally on pay, terms and conditions, and pensions for NHS staff. The organization also provides advice and guidance to NHS employers on a range of workforce issues, including employment law, human resources, and diversity and inclusion.
NHS Employers also plays a key role in promoting best practice in the NHS workforce. This includes developing resources and tools to support NHS employers in areas such as recruitment and retention, workforce planning, and employee engagement.
Partnerships[edit | edit source]
NHS Employers works closely with a range of partners, including the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England, and NHS Improvement. It also works with trade unions and professional bodies to negotiate on behalf of NHS employers.
Criticisms[edit | edit source]
Like many organizations, NHS Employers has faced criticism. Some critics argue that the organization is too focused on the interests of employers and does not do enough to represent the interests of NHS staff. Others have raised concerns about the organization's transparency and accountability.
