Nestlé Rowntree F.C.

Nestlé Rowntree F.C.‏‎ is a football club based in York, England. The club was originally established as Rowntree Mackintosh F.C. in 1967, named after the Rowntree's confectionery company that was based in the city. The club changed its name to Nestlé Rowntree F.C. in 1988, following the takeover of Rowntree's by Nestlé.

The club was formed in 1967 as Rowntree Mackintosh F.C. by employees of the Rowntree's confectionery factory in York. The team initially played in local leagues in and around York, before progressing to the York Football League.

In 1988, following the takeover of Rowntree's by Nestlé, the club changed its name to Nestlé Rowntree F.C. The club has continued to compete in local and regional leagues, and has also participated in the FA Vase, a national competition for teams at the lower levels of the English football pyramid.

Ground[edit | edit source]

Nestlé Rowntree F.C. plays its home games at the Rowntree Park, a public park in York that also houses a number of other sports facilities. The club's pitch is located in the north-east corner of the park, near the River Ouse.

Players[edit | edit source]

Over the years, Nestlé Rowntree F.C. has been home to many players who have gone on to have successful careers in professional football. These include Richard Cresswell, who went on to play for clubs such as Leeds United and Sheffield United, and Jonathan Greening, who played for Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion.
