NetEase, Inc. (Chinese: 网易; pinyin: Wǎngyì) is a Chinese technology company providing online services centered on content, community, communications, and commerce. Founded in 1997 by Ding Lei, the company was a key pioneer in the development of Internet services for China. NetEase develops and operates some of China's most popular PC-client and mobile games, and partners with Blizzard Entertainment to operate local versions of World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, StarCraft II, and Overwatch in China.

NetEase was founded in June 1997 by Ding Lei, also known as William Ding. The company initially focused on providing Internet services such as email and online news. In 2001, NetEase launched its first online game, "Westward Journey Online," which became one of the most popular online games in China.
