Neusiedler See' is a large endorheic lake located on the border between Austria and Hungary. It is the westernmost steppe lake in Europe and the largest lake in Austria. The lake covers an area of approximately 315 square kilometers, though its size can fluctuate significantly with changes in precipitation and evaporation rates. Due to its shallow depth, with an average depth of 1.5 meters and a maximum depth of around 1.8 meters, Neusiedler See is known for its reed belt that fringes the lake, creating a unique habitat for wildlife, especially birds.
