Neville Coleman

Neville Coleman‏‎ (1938-2012) was an Australian naturalist, underwater nature photographer, writer, publisher, and educator. He was known for his extensive work on marine life and was considered a pioneer in the field of scuba diving and marine exploration.

Neville Coleman was born in 1938 in Sydney, Australia. He developed an interest in the natural world at a young age, which led him to pursue a career in naturalism and underwater exploration.

Career[edit | edit source]

Coleman began his career as a school teacher but soon found his passion for scuba diving and underwater photography. He became a professional scuba diver and underwater photographer in the 1960s. His work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions, and he has contributed significantly to the understanding of Australia's marine biodiversity.

Coleman authored and published more than 50 books on marine life, including the comprehensive "Marine Life of Australia". His work has been instrumental in the discovery and documentation of numerous marine species, some of which have been named in his honor.

Neville Coleman passed away in 2012, leaving behind a significant body of work that continues to inspire and educate. His contributions to marine biology and underwater photography have been recognized with several awards and honors, including the Australian Natural History Medallion.
