Newton Food Centre was first opened in 1971 as a hawker centre. It was later renovated and reopened in 2006, with a larger seating capacity and improved facilities. The centre is named after Howard Newton, a British civil servant who was the Secretary for Chinese Affairs in Singapore during the 1930s.

Newton Food Centre is located at 500 Clemenceau Avenue North, in the Newton area of Singapore. It is easily accessible by public transport, with Newton MRT station just a short walk away.
