Nicorandil is a vasodilatory drug primarily used in the treatment of angina pectoris, a condition characterized by chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. It is classified as a potassium channel opener and has a unique mechanism of action that combines the properties of nitrates and ATP-sensitive potassium channel activators.
