Nina F. Schor

Nina F. Schor is a renowned neurologist and pediatrician who has made significant contributions to the field of child neurology. She is currently the Deputy Director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Nina F. Schor was born in New York City. She completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard University, where she majored in chemistry and philosophy. She then pursued her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Following this, she completed her residency in pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and in neurology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Schor's career has been marked by her dedication to child neurology. She served as the William H. Eilinger Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center before joining the NINDS. Her research primarily focuses on neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that develops from immature nerve cells found in several areas of the body and most commonly arises in and around the adrenal glands.

Schor's research in the field of neuroblastoma has been groundbreaking. She has extensively studied the molecular mechanisms that underlie the disease and has made significant strides in understanding its pathogenesis. Her work has also contributed to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for neuroblastoma.

Over the course of her career, Schor has received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to child neurology. These include the American Academy of Neurology's Sidney Carter Award in Child Neurology and the Child Neurology Society's Hower Award.
