North Corbin is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Laurel and Knox counties in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is part of the London micropolitan area.

. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.3 square miles (13.7 km²), of which 5.3 square miles (13.7 km²) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²), or 0.38%, is water.

As of the 2020 census, the population of North Corbin was 1,773. The racial makeup of the CDP was predominantly White, with small percentages of other races.

History[edit | edit source]

North Corbin is historically significant as the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). The original Colonel Harland Sanders' restaurant, where he developed his famous recipe, is located in North Corbin. This site is now a museum and a functioning KFC restaurant.

Economy[edit | edit source]

The economy of North Corbin is largely driven by retail and service industries. The presence of the KFC museum and restaurant attracts tourists, contributing to the local economy.

North Corbin is served by the Laurel County Public Schools and Knox County Public Schools systems. There are several elementary, middle, and high schools in the area.
