North Shore Towers

North Shore Towers is a residential complex located in the Floral Park neighborhood of Queens, New York City. The complex consists of three buildings, each with 33 floors, making it the tallest residential development in Queens. North Shore Towers was built on the grounds of the former North Hills Golf Course, and it includes a country club, an 18-hole golf course, and various other amenities.

History

The North Shore Towers were built in the 1970s on the site of the North Hills Golf Course. The complex was designed by architect Philip Birnbaum and developed by Sigmund Sommer. The towers were initially rental apartments, but they were converted into a cooperative housing complex in 1985.

Architecture

The three towers of the North Shore Towers are named after the first three letters of the Greek alphabet: Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. Each tower has 33 floors and is approximately 110 meters tall. The towers are built in the Brutalist style, characterized by its raw, unadorned concrete construction.
