Northumberland
Northumberland is a county in the North East of England. It is the northernmost county of England, bordering Scotland to the north and the North Sea to the east. The county town is Alnwick, although the county council is based in Morpeth.

Northumberland's history dates back to Roman Britain, when it was part of the Roman province of Britannia. The county was a key location during the Anglo-Saxon period, with the kingdom of Northumbria covering a large part of what is now Northumberland.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Northumberland is known for its diverse landscapes, from the rugged Cheviot Hills in the north to the sandy beaches along the coast. The county is also home to the Northumberland National Park, which covers a quarter of the county and includes the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site.

The economy of Northumberland is diverse, with key sectors including agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing. The county is also known for its coal mining heritage, although this industry has declined in recent years.

Northumberland has a rich cultural heritage, with numerous historic sites such as Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne Priory, and Alnwick Castle. The county is also known for its traditional Northumbrian music and Northumbrian dialect.
