Northwest is a cardinal direction, one of the four intermediate points on a compass, specifically located halfway between north and west. It is opposite of southeast and is commonly abbreviated as NW.

In navigation, northwest is one of the four intercardinal directions. On a compass, it is located at 315 degrees, halfway between north (0 or 360 degrees) and west (270 degrees).
