O. J. Brigance

O. J. Brigance, full name Orenthal James Brigance, is a former professional American football player and current executive in the National Football League (NFL). Born on September 29, 1969, in Houston, Texas, Brigance had a successful career as a linebacker in the NFL before transitioning to a prominent role off the field.

Early Life and Football Career[edit | edit source]

Brigance attended Rice University, where he excelled as a football player. After a standout college career, he entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 1991, signing with the Miami Dolphins. Over the course of his playing career, Brigance also played for the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL.

Post-Football Career[edit | edit source]

Following his retirement from professional football, Brigance transitioned to a career in the NFL front office. He currently serves as the Senior Advisor to Player Engagement for the Baltimore Ravens, where he plays a crucial role in supporting and mentoring players both on and off the field.

ALS Advocacy[edit | edit source]

In 2007, Brigance was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Despite the challenges posed by the disease, he has become a prominent advocate for ALS research and awareness. Brigance's resilience and positive attitude in the face of adversity have inspired many.
