Olga's Kitchen[edit | edit source]

Olga's Kitchen is an American chain of casual dining restaurants specializing in Mediterranean-inspired dishes, with a particular focus on its signature item, the Original Olga. The restaurant was founded by Olga Loizon in Birmingham, Michigan in 1970.

History[edit | edit source]

Olga Loizon founded Olga's Kitchen in 1970 in Birmingham, Michigan. She started with a small Greek sandwich shop, which eventually grew into a chain of restaurants. Olga's Kitchen was one of the first restaurants in the Detroit area to focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients and unique recipes, which helped it to stand out from other fast food options.

Menu[edit | edit source]

The menu at Olga's Kitchen is inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, with a particular focus on Greek flavors. The signature item on the menu is the Original Olga, a sandwich made with seasoned beef and lamb, onions, tomatoes, and the restaurant's special Olgasauce, all wrapped in Olga Bread, a proprietary bread similar to pita.

Other menu items include Olga's Spinach Pie, Olga's Greek Salad, and a variety of Olga's Snackers, small, snack-sized versions of the Original Olga. The menu also includes a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts.

Locations[edit | edit source]

As of 2021, there are over 25 Olga's Kitchen locations throughout Michigan. The restaurants are primarily located in shopping malls and shopping centers, although there are also several standalone locations.

Ownership[edit | edit source]

In 2015, Olga's Kitchen was purchased by TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants, a Michigan-based family business with a long history in the restaurant industry. Under the new ownership, Olga's Kitchen has continued to expand and innovate, while staying true to its roots and commitment to quality.
