History[edit | edit source]
The Olympia Brewing Company was founded by Leopold Schmidt, a German immigrant who saw potential in the artesian waters of Tumwater Falls. He believed that this water would be perfect for brewing beer, and thus, the Olympia Brewing Company was born. The company's first beer, Olympia Beer, was introduced in 1896 and quickly gained popularity.
Products[edit | edit source]
The Olympia Brewing Company was known for its flagship product, Olympia Beer. This beer was a popular choice among beer enthusiasts due to its unique taste, which was attributed to the artesian water used in its brewing process. The company also produced other beverages such as Artesian Light and Olympia Gold Light Beer.
Closure and Aftermath[edit | edit source]
The Olympia Brewing Company was sold to Pabst Brewing Company in 1983. The brewery in Tumwater was closed in 2003, and the production of Olympia Beer was moved to California. The closure of the brewery had a significant impact on the local economy and community of Tumwater.
