Onyeka Onwenu (born 31 January 1952) is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, actress, and politician. She is one of the most celebrated and influential figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Onyeka is often referred to as the "Elegant Stallion" due to her graceful presence and powerful voice.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Onyeka Onwenu was born in Obosi, a town in Anambra State, Nigeria. She is the daughter of D.K. Onwenu, a notable Nigerian educationist and politician. Onyeka attended the prestigious Wesley Girls' High School in Lagos before proceeding to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she earned a degree in International Relations and Communication. She later obtained a Master's degree in Media Studies from The New School in New York City.

Onyeka Onwenu began her music career in the early 1980s with the release of her debut album, For the Love of You. She gained widespread recognition with her second album, Endless Life, which featured the hit single "One Love".
