Orbit is a brand of sugarless chewing gum from the Wrigley Company. In the United States, where it was re-launched in 2001, it is sold in cardboard boxes with 14 individually wrapped pieces per package. In the UK, where it was launched in 1899 it was originally sold as a traditional long-stick gum.
History[edit | edit source]
Orbit was launched in 1944 in the United States as a replacement brand by Wrigley Company during World War II due to rationing of gum-making ingredients. The brand was discontinued after the war, but was re-introduced in the U.S. in 2001.
Varieties[edit | edit source]
Orbit gum is available in various flavors, such as Peppermint, Spearmint, Wintermint, Sweet Mint, Bubblemint, Cinnamon, and others. In addition to the standard stick of gum, Orbit also produces a mist spray and a gel that are used to freshen breath.
Marketing[edit | edit source]
Orbit has been marketed in a variety of ways, including the "Orbit Girl", a British character who appears in their commercials. The brand's tagline is "Just Brushed Clean Feeling".
