Otto Abramowski

Otto Abramowski (born 1923, died 2010) was a renowned French historian specializing in the history of medicine. He was a member of the Académie Nationale de Médecine and the Académie des sciences morales et politiques.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Abramowski was born on 23rd February 1923 in Paris. He completed his secondary education at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand and then went on to study at the Faculté des lettres de Paris and the École pratique des hautes études.

Career[edit | edit source]

Abramowski began his career as a high school teacher. He later became a professor at the University of Paris where he taught the history of medicine. He was also a director of studies at the École pratique des hautes études.

Abramowski was known for his research on the history of medicine, particularly in the 18th century. He published numerous works on the subject, including La médecine de l'Encyclopédie and La médecine à Paris du XVIe au XXe siècle.

Honors and Awards[edit | edit source]

In recognition of his contributions to the field of medical history, Abramowski was elected a member of the Académie Nationale de Médecine in 1983 and the Académie des sciences morales et politiques in 1995.

Death[edit | edit source]

Abramowski passed away on 6th July 2010 in Paris.
