Oxyphenisatine is a laxative that was previously used in the treatment of constipation. It is a derivative of phenolphthalein and acts as a stimulant laxative, promoting bowel movements by irritating the lining of the intestine.

Oxyphenisatine is chemically related to phenolphthalein, a compound historically used as a laxative. The chemical synthesis of oxyphenisatine involves the reaction of phenolphthalein with hydrazine to form the hydrazone, which is then oxidized to produce the final compound.
