Palm Desert is a city located in Riverside County, California, United States. It is situated in the Coachella Valley and is known for its warm climate, beautiful landscapes, and vibrant community. With a population of approximately 53,000 as of 2020, Palm Desert is a popular destination for tourists and retirees alike.

Palm Desert was incorporated as a city in 1948, although its history dates back much further. The area was originally inhabited by the Cahuilla people, who thrived in the desert environment. The city's name is derived from the abundance of palm trees that grow in the area, as well as its desert location.

Palm Desert covers a total area of 27.0 square miles, making it one of the larger cities in the Coachella Valley. It is located approximately 14 miles east of Palm Springs and is surrounded by the Santa Rosa Mountains to the south and the San Bernardino Mountains to the north. The city's elevation is 243 feet above sea level.
