Parral, Chihuahua is a city located in the southern part of the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. It serves as the administrative seat of the municipality of Hidalgo del Parral. The city is known for its rich history, particularly during the Mexican Revolution and its significant mining industry.

Parral was founded on July 14, 1631, by Juan Rangel de Biezma, a Spanish explorer, who discovered rich silver deposits in the area. The city quickly grew as a mining town and became one of the most important mining centers in New Spain. During the Mexican Revolution, Parral was a strategic location and witnessed several key events, including the assassination of the revolutionary leader Pancho Villa on July 20, 1923.

Parral is situated in the southern part of the state of Chihuahua, in a mountainous region. The city is located at an elevation of approximately 1,620 meters (5,315 feet) above sea level. The climate in Parral is semi-arid, with hot summers and mild winters.
