Production[edit | edit source]

Pathology was produced by Lakeshore Entertainment and distributed by MGM Distribution Co.. The film's concept was developed by Neveldine and Taylor, who sought to explore the darker aspects of human nature through the lens of medical students and the field of pathology. Filming took place in various locations, primarily in and around Los Angeles.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Upon its release, Pathology received mixed reviews from critics. Some praised the film for its bold premise and the performances of its cast, particularly Ventimiglia and Weston. However, others criticized it for its graphic violence and the perceived implausibility of its plot. Despite the mixed critical reception, the film has garnered a cult following over the years, appreciated for its unique blend of horror and medical drama.

Themes[edit | edit source]

The film delves into themes of morality, addiction, and the corrupting influence of power. It challenges the audience to consider the ethical boundaries of science and medicine, as well as the consequences of unchecked ambition. Pathology also explores the concept of the perfect murder, questioning the nature of guilt and the human capacity for evil.
