Pebbles Cereal
Pebbles Cereal is a brand of breakfast cereal produced by Post Consumer Brands. It was first introduced in the United States in 1971. The brand is named after Pebbles Flintstone, a character from the animated television series The Flintstones.
History[edit | edit source]
Pebbles Cereal was the first brand of cereal to be based on a television show or movie. The idea was conceived by Post Consumer Brands, a division of Post Holdings, in an effort to capitalize on the popularity of The Flintstones. The cereal was initially available in two varieties: Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles, both of which are still in production today.
Varieties[edit | edit source]
Pebbles Cereal comes in several varieties, each with its own unique flavor and color. The original two varieties are Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles. Fruity Pebbles is a sweetened rice cereal with fruit flavors, while Cocoa Pebbles is a chocolate-flavored version. Other varieties have been introduced over the years, including Peanut Butter Pebbles, Cinna-Crunch Pebbles, and Marshmallow Pebbles.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
The main ingredients in Pebbles Cereal are rice, sugar, and hydrogenated vegetable oil. The cereal also contains less than 0.5% of salt, natural and artificial flavor, and a mix of vitamins and minerals. The specific ingredients can vary depending on the variety of the cereal.
Nutritional Information[edit | edit source]
Pebbles Cereal is a source of several essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, vitamin B6, and iron. However, it is also high in sugar, with each serving containing approximately 9 grams of sugar. The cereal is low in fat and contains no cholesterol.
In Popular Culture[edit | edit source]
Pebbles Cereal has been featured in numerous television commercials and print advertisements since its introduction. The brand's mascots, Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, are often depicted in these advertisements trying to steal the cereal from each other.
