Post Consumer Brands traces its roots back to the late 19th century when C.W. Post founded the Postum Cereal Company in 1895. Post was a pioneer in the development of ready-to-eat breakfast cereals and introduced Grape-Nuts, one of the company's most iconic brands, in 1897.

In 1995, Kraft General Foods spun off its Post cereal division, creating the independent company known as Post Holdings. Post Holdings later acquired MOM Brands in 2015, further expanding its cereal portfolio.
