- Penrose is situated in the eastern part of Fremont County, approximately 35 miles from Colorado Springs. The town is surrounded by a diverse landscape of mountains, plains, and rivers, offering a variety of outdoor activities.

- The town was established in the early 20th century by Spencer Penrose, a prominent Colorado Springs businessman. It was originally developed as an agricultural community, and continues to be a significant producer of fruit and vegetables in the region.
