Penteleu

Penteleu is a mountain range located in the Eastern Carpathians, in the northeastern part of Romania. The mountain range is named after the highest peak, Penteleu Peak, which stands at an elevation of 1,777 meters.

Geography[edit | edit source]

The Penteleu mountain range is situated in the Buzău County, in the historical region of Moldavia. It is part of the Eastern Carpathians mountain system, which extends over three countries: Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine. The Penteleu range is bordered by the Buzău River to the west and the Trotuș River to the east.

Flora and Fauna[edit | edit source]

The Penteleu mountain range is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. The lower slopes of the mountains are covered with deciduous forests of beech, oak, and hornbeam, while the higher altitudes are dominated by coniferous forests of spruce and fir. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including brown bears, wolves, lynx, and numerous species of birds.

Tourism[edit | edit source]

Penteleu is a popular destination for hiking, mountaineering, and winter sports. The mountain range offers numerous hiking trails of varying difficulty levels, as well as opportunities for rock climbing and skiing. The area is also known for its scenic beauty, with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes from the summit of Penteleu Peak.
