Pepsi Raw

Pepsi Raw (also known as Pepsi Natural in some markets) was a cola soft drink created by PepsiCo and Britvic in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and PepsiCo in the rest of the world. It was first launched in the UK in 2008 and was marketed as a "natural" and "raw" cola.

History[edit | edit source]

PepsiCo introduced Pepsi Raw in the United Kingdom and Ireland in February 2008. The product was part of a broader corporate strategy to create a more health-conscious image. Pepsi Raw was made from natural ingredients and was marketed as a healthier alternative to regular colas. It was free from artificial preservatives, colours, and sweeteners.

In 2010, PepsiCo decided to discontinue Pepsi Raw in the UK due to poor sales. However, the product continued to be available in other markets under the name Pepsi Natural until it was eventually discontinued worldwide.

Ingredients[edit | edit source]

Pepsi Raw was made from sparkling water, cane sugar, natural plant extracts, apple extract, caramel colouring, tartaric acid, and caffeine. The use of cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup was a key selling point for the product, as it was perceived to be more natural and healthier.

Reception[edit | edit source]

The reception to Pepsi Raw was mixed. While some consumers appreciated the natural ingredients and unique taste, others found it too different from traditional colas. The product also faced criticism for its high sugar content, despite being marketed as a healthier option.
