Perfetti Van Melle is a privately held Italian-Dutch global manufacturer of confectionery and gum. It is the third largest candy and gum manufacturer in the world and was formed in 2001 with the merger of Perfetti SpA and Van Melle NV.

Perfetti SpA was founded in 1946 in Lainate, Italy by brothers Ambrogio and Egidio Perfetti. The company originally specialized in the production of chewing gum and later expanded to other confectionery products.

Van Melle NV was a Dutch company with a similar history, founded by Izaak Van Melle in 1900. It started as a small confectionery company and grew to become a major player in the global candy market.

In 2001, the two companies merged to form Perfetti Van Melle. The merger allowed the company to expand its global reach and increase its product portfolio.
