The creek itself is home to numerous fish species, including trout, which benefit from the waterway's relatively cool temperatures and clean water. Efforts by local organizations and government agencies aim to preserve and enhance the creek's water quality, addressing challenges such as stormwater runoff, pollution, and habitat degradation.

The area surrounding Perkiomen Creek has a rich history, with evidence of Native American settlements dating back thousands of years. European settlers arrived in the 17th century, drawn by the creek's natural resources. Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, the creek played a crucial role in the region's development, powering mills and serving as a transportation route. Today, many of these historical sites are preserved, offering insights into the area's past.
