Peter R. Orszag
Peter R. Orszag is an American economist and banker who has held several prominent positions in both the public and private sectors. He is best known for his role as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under President Barack Obama.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Orszag was born on December 16, 1968, in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy and later graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in economics. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the London School of Economics.

Academic and Early Career[edit | edit source]
Orszag began his career as an academic, serving as a lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley and as a fellow at the Brookings Institution. He also worked as a special assistant to the President for economic policy during the Clinton administration.
Congressional Budget Office[edit | edit source]
In 2007, Orszag was appointed as the Director of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). During his tenure, he focused on issues such as healthcare reform and the long-term fiscal challenges facing the United States.
Office of Management and Budget[edit | edit source]
In 2009, President Barack Obama appointed Orszag as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the federal budget and advising the President on economic policy. He played a key role in the development of the Affordable Care Act.
Private Sector[edit | edit source]
After leaving the OMB in 2010, Orszag joined Citigroup as Vice Chairman of Corporate and Investment Banking. He has also served as a columnist for Bloomberg and a contributing editor for The Atlantic.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Orszag has been married twice and has several children. He is known for his interest in healthcare policy and has written extensively on the subject.
