The most recognized and best-selling product of the company is Marlboro, one of the world's leading cigarette brands. PMI's operational headquarters are in Lausanne, Switzerland, although it is incorporated in the United States.

Philip Morris International was originally a part of the Philip Morris Companies Inc., which was later renamed Altria Group.
