From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Phrachomklao Hospital (โรงพยาบาลพระจอมเกล้า), sometimes stylized as King Mongkut Memorial Hospital, is the main hospital of Phetchaburi Province, Thailand. It is classified as a general hospital under the Ministry of Public Health.

History[edit | edit source]

Phrachomklao Hospital has a rich history dating back to the construction of the Phra Nakhon Khiri palace by King Mongkut in 1861. In 1880, a small missionary team established the first hospital near Wat Noi, which operated until 1934. The Thai Red Cross Society set up a health station in 1929, which remained the only healthcare facility in Phetchaburi until 1951. This health station, known as The Red Cross Health Station 8, still operates today.

Construction of the current hospital began in 1948, and it was officially opened as Phetchaburi Hospital on March 10, 1951. In 1989, it was renamed Phrachomklao Hospital in honor of King Mongkut. As of 2022, the hospital has a capacity of 447 inpatient beds.
