Pierre Taittinger
Pierre Taittinger (4 October 1887 – 22 January 1965) was a notable French political figure and businessman, widely recognized as the founder of Taittinger Champagne house.

Pierre Taittinger was born in Paris, France. He was raised in a family with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, which later influenced his career path.
Career[edit | edit source]
In 1932, Pierre Taittinger established the Taittinger Champagne house, which has since become one of the most prestigious champagne brands worldwide. Prior to this, he had a successful career in politics, serving as a member of the French Parliament and later as the Mayor of Paris from 1924 to 1929.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
Pierre Taittinger was a member of the French Parliament from 1919 to 1936 and again from 1951 to 1958. He was also a member of the French Senate from 1936 to 1940. Taittinger was a prominent figure in the conservative political party, the French Republican Party, and served as its president from 1948 to 1958.
Taittinger Champagne House[edit | edit source]
The Taittinger Champagne house was established in 1932 when Pierre Taittinger purchased the Forest-Fourneaux estate in Reims, a region famous for its champagne production. The brand is known for its high-quality champagne, produced using a high proportion of Chardonnay grapes, which gives the champagne its distinctive taste.

Pierre Taittinger was married and had three children. His descendants continue to be involved in the management of the Taittinger Champagne house.
