Pietro Ferrero
Pietro Ferrero[edit | edit source]
Pietro Ferrero was an Italian entrepreneur, confectioner, and founder of the global confectionery company Ferrero SpA. Born on September 2, 1898, in Farigliano, Italy, Ferrero started his career as a small-time pastry maker before he went on to create one of the world's most successful confectionery companies.
Early Life and Career[edit | edit source]
Pietro Ferrero was born into a family of bakers and confectioners. He began his career in the family business, where he learned the art of making pastries and confections. In 1942, during the Second World War, Ferrero opened his own pastry shop in Alba, a small town in the Piedmont region of Italy.
Founding of Ferrero SpA[edit | edit source]
In 1946, Pietro Ferrero founded Ferrero SpA, a confectionery company that would go on to become a global powerhouse in the industry. The company's first product was a sweet paste made from hazelnuts and cocoa, which was initially sold as a solid block but was later transformed into a spreadable version. This product, known as Nutella, became a worldwide sensation and remains one of the company's most popular products to this day.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Pietro Ferrero passed away on March 2, 1949, but his legacy lives on through Ferrero SpA. The company is now one of the largest confectionery companies in the world, with a wide range of products including Kinder Chocolate, Ferrero Rocher, and Tic Tac. Ferrero's innovative approach to confectionery and his commitment to quality have made a lasting impact on the industry.
