- Platte City is a city located in Platte County, Missouri, in the United States. It is part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The city was founded in 1838 and incorporated in 1843. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 4,691.

- Platte City is located in the western part of Missouri, near the Missouri River. The city covers a total area of 3.65 square miles, all of it land.

- Platte City was established by Zadock "Zed" Martin and was originally known as Martinsville. It was later renamed to Platte City, after the Platte River, which is derived from the French word for a low, shallow, or intermittent stream.
